Benefits of complete dry cat food

Complete nutrition

Cats are obligate carnivores and need to get certain nutrients from their diet as they can't make them themselves, for example Taurine and Arginine.

Dry cat foods are usually complete meaning it contains everything your cat needs for a healthy diet. So you can be confident you are providing your cat healthy meals with these amino acids, other protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

It's great for your cat's dental health

Another benefit of dry food is that it can help promote good dental health. This is extremely important as dental disease (specifically periodontal or gum disease) is the most common disorder in cats.

When cats eat dry food, the crunchy texture can help to remove plaque and tartar from their teeth. This is especially important as cats are prone to dental issues such as gingivitis and periodontal disease.

It's convenient and easy to store

A range of cat food recipes can be delivered to your home with short delivery times or setup as a subscription so you don’t have to think about ordering (like Tippaws dry food). We add rosemary oil to our food to act as a natural preservative.

It can be more economical to choose dry food for cats

Dry food does not need to be kept in the fridge, so this means you can bulk order your food or buy larger bags which is often more economical. If your cat is a grazer, you can leave it out to eat whenever they are hungry - just make sure you don’t leave it out too long as some dry foods can go off when oxidised.

Dry food is great for neutered cats

Neutering can have a significant impact on a cat's nutritional needs. When a cat is neutered, their hormones change, which can affect their metabolism. Neutered cats (also referred to as spayed cats if female, or sterilised cats) tend to have a slower metabolism than unneutered cats, which means that they require fewer calories to maintain a healthy weight. If a neutered cat is fed the same amount of food as an unneutered cat, they may become overweight or obese. The best dry food for neutered cats will be high in protein and contain amino acids such as L-Carnitine that help boost your cat's metabolism. This dry cat food is a great alternative to dry diet cat food which cats don't usually like.

Our dry food is hypoallergenic and grain-free

There is no wheat, gluten, soya, rice or dairy in our dry cat food. This means it's suitable for cats with sensitivities or allergies to these ingredients. Our food is made with natural ingredients and added vitamins and minerals. Contact us if your cat has allergies and you'd like to chat about our ingredients or what we mean by grain free.

High protein cat food

Why is a high protein diet good for cats?

As a result of their evolutionary adaptations as obligate carnivores, cats have developed a dependence on specific amino acids found in meat sources. They are unable to produce these amino acids on their own, making it necessary for cats to get them from their diet. High-protein cat food also helps your cat stay fuller for longer, so if they are prone to weight gain it is a great way to manage this, as well as building and maintain healthy muscle mass.

Finally, the high protein content in dry food makes it more appealing for cats, long gone are the days where you'll struggle to get cats to eat kibble. The meaty kibble is irresistible and cats love it!

How much protein is in cat food?

Cat food protein levels can vary massively. We have created a calculator that will allow you to calculate how much your are paying for the protein in your cat food versus other ingredients such as grains. Our delicious and nutritious dry cat food is one of the best high protein dry cat foods in the UK. Remember that not all protein advertised in commercial cat foods is animal protein, it can also be plant protein. The best high protein cat foods will have high animal protein content i.e. high meat content or fish content.

How does the protein content compare to other dry cat food brands?

We know plenty of cat food brands are available in the UK and it can be hard to choose. However, not all cat food is created equal. Try our protein calculator to find out how much protein you are getting in your cat food per pound spent - you may be surprised!

Why are prebiotics added to cat food?

Digestive health is crucial for cats, providing a barrier against pathogens and helping nutrient absorption. The gut microbiome, consisting of trillions of microorganisms, plays a vital role in maintaining overall health.

We formulate all our recipes with prebiotics called MOS and FOS to all our food to promote gut health and our food is cooked gently so the protein is digestible for all cats.
