Questions about Tippaws food

How much food do I need to give my cat?

This depends on the size of your cat, age and health. Please see our Feeding Guidelines page for more information.

If you feed your cat a combination of dry and wet food, please see our wet and dry Feeding Guideline.

How do I transition to Tippaws food?

We recommend gradually changing your food over a period of at least two weeks. A good way of doing this is adding a small amount of Tippaws food to your existing food, and gradually increasing the percentage until you have completed switched.

Where is Tippaws food made?

Tippaws food is made in the UK.

Is Tippaws food grain free?

Yes it is.

Is Tippaws food a complementary or complete food?

It is a complete food.

If you don't add preservatives to your food, why does it have a long shelf life?

We prepare the raw ingredients (fish, turkey etc.) for our food with rosemary oil. Rosemary oil contains carbolic acid which has antioxidant properties and acts as a natural preservative. It is extremely effective at preventing the oxidation of fats which would normally cause rancidity. This means our food has a long shelf life.

Is Tippaws food 100% natural?

Technically we are not allowed to say Tippaws is 100% natural because we have added vitamins and minerals to it.

Is Tippaws food packaging recyclable?

We are launching fully recyclable packaging for our food in March 2024. Our current food packaging is not yet recyclable at home with domestic waste unfortunately. However, we have a partnership with Terracycle where we send them used packaging to recycle. If you would like us to recycle your bags, please email this and we will arrange for them to be collected.

Visit our Sustainability page for more information.

How can you claim your food is highly palatable?

A number of tests have been performed in a controlled environment, where 20 cats try both Tippaws food and another leading dry food. The test was carried out against multiple leading dry foods and in all tests, Tippaws food was chosen more than the other food.

How big is your kibble?

Our adult kibble is 10mm diameter and 5mm thick and our kitten kibble is 8mm diameter and 4mm thick.

How is your kibble made?

Our kibble is extruded but not in the traditional way. It’s cooked slowly at a very low temp of less than 70° to protect the proteins, ensuring maximum digestibility and bio-availability of the nutrients. You can read more about the process on our blog.

Questions about Tippaws litter

What is Tippaws Long-lasting Clumping Litter made from?

Our litter is made from recycled wood materials and corn. It also has a patented antibacterial clumping agent added to it to ensure ultra tight clumping.

How much does a bag of Tippaws litter weigh?

Approx. 3kg. The bag contains 6L of litter.

What are the dimensions of the bag of litter?

The dimensions are appox. 40cm height x 22cm width x 8cm depth.

How much litter will I need?

Please see our Litter Calculator.

What is the usage claim on your litter packaging based on?

When we launched our litter, we based our usage claims on technical absorption data. This involved looking at how much liquid a grain of our litter can absorb and taking into account how many times an average cat pees in one day, how much urine is produced and therefore how long a bag of litter will last an average cat. This gave us the 45 days that is on the bag.

Now that customers have been using our litter for over a year, we have discovered that every cat is different and pretty much every customer uses a different amount of litter per month. We have a richer real life data set to build a more accurate view of how much litter you will need depending on your cats size, urine frequency and volume. This feeds into our Litter Calculator.

We always recommend you use our calculator to see how much litter you'll need.

How does the price of Tippaws litter compare to other clumping litters?

Please see our Litter Pricing page for more detail on how our litter pricing compares to other clumping litters on the market.
