Cats have long been known as some of the most curious and entertaining creatures on the planet. From their playful antics to their ability to find joy in the simplest of things, like cardboard boxes and string, it's no wonder they may unexpectedly love a form of human entertainment… YouTube!
So why exactly do cats love YouTube?
First and foremost, cats are naturally drawn to movement. As predators, they have an innate instinct to track and pursue prey, which means they're always on the lookout for anything that moves. Have you ever seen your cat’s gaze follow a bird flying outside? Or a football moving across the TV screen?
YouTube is a great form of movement. From videos of birds flitting around to clips of people playing with laser pointers, there's always something to catch a cat's attention. And since many of these videos are filmed from a cat's-eye perspective, they offer a unique and captivating view of the world that can be hard for felines to resist.
Of course, it's not just movement that draws cats to YouTube. They're also incredibly curious creatures, and they love to explore and discover new things. Why should I put YouTube on for my cat to watch?
YouTube can be a great source of stimulation and entertainment for indoor cats. While outdoor cats have plenty of opportunities to explore and discover new things, indoor cats often have a more limited environment to work with. And since cats are such active and curious creatures, they need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to stay healthy and happy. YouTube can provide just that, offering them a window into the wider world and giving them the chance to experience new sights, sounds, and sensations.

Whether it's a video of a cat playing with a toy they've never seen before or a clip of a kitten chasing their tail, there's always something to pique their interest. We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite YouTube videos that cats love and will have them entertained for hours:
1. 8 hour birds bonanza - Cat TV Bird Watch. This is Maisie’s absolute favourite. We put it on for her to watch most evenings. It’s great because it’s exactly what a cat would see if they were actually in the scene and the noises are very stimulating.
Finally, another fan favourite in our house, although I won’t link to it as I’m guessing it may just be Maisie and Gus that like it… MAFS Australia. They are obsessed and I can’t work out why!
